Easy Drop Biscuit Ingredients

5 Ingredient Recipe

  • BISQUICK: Keep a box (or two!) on hand for fast and easy baking. This recipe simply uses milk, cheddar cheese, and a little garlic to get restaurant-worthy, mouthwateringly delicious biscuits every time!
  • MILK: Whole milk (or cream) makes the biscuits moist and light, but non-dairy alternatives like oat or soy milk will work.
  • CHEESE: Choose your cheese! Cheddar has a sharp flavor that pairs well with most main dishes, but Swiss, Gruyere, or Monterey Jack cheeses deliver tangy flavors, too.

How to Make Drop Biscuits

Drop biscuits are so easy to make:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and drop portions onto a prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake (per recipe below) until biscuits are golden brown.

PRO TIP: Lightly flour the baking sheet to keep biscuits from sticking to the parchment paper.

Serving Suggestions

Cheesy drop biscuits are delicious on their own, but are even better paired up and dipped into some Taco Chili, Beef Stew or Chicken Rice Soup. Or serve drop biscuits along side Crockpot Meatloaf or Instant Pot Ribs.

Recipe Tips & Time Savers

  • For the lightest, fluffiest drop biscuits, avoid overmixing the dough. Any air bubbles trapped in the dough will help the biscuits rise while they bake.
  • Sprinkle a little flour on the spoon before dropping onto the baking sheet to keep the dough from sticking (it will be ‘shaggy’ in texture).
  • Use a floured ice cream scoop to produce uniform sized biscuits that will bake at the same rate.
  • Store cooled leftover biscuits in a zippered bag or covered container at room temperature and use within 4 days.
  • Freeze cooled biscuits on a sheet pan and then transfer the frozen biscuits to a zippered bag with the date labeled on the outside for up to 8 weeks.
