BREAD: Texas toast is twice the thickness of ordinary bread, at least 1” thick. Purchase it already sliced in the frozen section or simply cut a large baguette or boule loaf of bread into 1” slices.

SEASONINGS: To get easy homemade garlic bread, simply combine the butter, oil, garlic, parsley, and salt together. Any seasoning will do! 

TOPPINGS: Anything goes on Texas toast! Sprinkle on a little parmesan cheese, mozzarella, or a shredded Mexican blend.

Texas Toast Garlic Bread Instructions

  1. Combine the topping ingredients until smooth (as per the recipe below).
  2. Spread butter mixture on both sides of Texas toast (may be frozen at this point).
  3. Lay slices on a sheet pan and bake.

PRO TIP: If adding cheese, place the pieces under the broiler until bubbly.

Keep leftover pieces of Texas toast in a zippered bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them under the broiler, air fryer, or in the toaster (if they fit). Freeze unbaked pieces of Texas toast between sheets of parchment paper in a zippered bag and bake from thawed, if desired. Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter or ½ cup softened
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon dry parsley leaves
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 thick slices of bread 1-inch thick

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients, except the bread, in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.

  • Spread the butter mixture on both sides of each slice of bread.

  • Freeze or bake as desired.

To Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  • Place the buttered bread on a rimmed baking pan.

  • Bake 10-12 minutes from frozen or 7-9 minutes if fresh.

Notes

  • Refrigerate leftovers in a zippered bag for up to 3 days. Freeze unbaked slices between sheets of parchment paper, then inside a zippered bag for up to 3 months.
  • Thaw frozen garlic bread, and bake as per recipe.
